Molecular Characterization Core University of Pittsburgh

The Molecular Characterization Core in the Chevron Science Center is the culmination of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry and X-Ray Diffraction. Operating over twenty characterization processes, these previously independent facilities are combined into the $3M support suite for the Department of Chemistry.

The 5,000 SF open lab is designed for flexibility, expansion and ease of operation thru the utilization of mobile casework with quick-connecting fixtures to knee-wall service plenums. A remote pump room minimizes in-lab disruption which allows students and faculty to take advantage of the lab’s open plan for group discussion.
