Genomics Platform Renovation The Broad Institute

The Genomics Platform at the Broad Institute provides advanced technologies, applications development, and high-throughput processes related to sample handling, genotyping, gene expression, and genome sequencing.

Wilson Architects worked with Genomics on the consolidation of the 200 person research group into an existing 100,000 GSF, 320 Charles Street building in Kendall Square. The consolidation included targeted renovations (Phase 1) for laboratory space to support receiving, pico plating, extractions, and arrays in the initial relocation of those programs from other Kendall Square space.

A master planning and programming effort led to a conceptual design for transforming the remainder of the building in the next phase: laboratories as high flexibility spaces to support evolving equipment development and changes, offices opened up to promote communication, and gathering spaces added throughout the building, including a 200 person ideas Forum.
