Learning by active experience is more engaging than by passive, rote methods. By making the student the center of the learning algorithm, she/he takes on the responsibility for the effort. Higher levels of engagement occur by including others in the process, taking advantage of the social dimensions in the learning. Team-based learning combines individual and group activities, allowing students to coach each other. Peer tutoring is an extension of the team-based learning model. The architectural setting now uses workshop style studio spaces centered around each discipline to emphasizes hands-on teaching.
